This policy explains what data rsdlt.dev (the “site”), a personal blog run by Rodrigo Santiago (“I”, “me”), collects when you visit it, and why.
The short version
- The site has no accounts, forms, comments or newsletter, so I never ask for your name or email.
- The site sets no cookies.
- I use cookieless analytics that count visits without identifying you.
- I don’t sell or share personal data, and I don’t use it for advertising.
What is collected, and by whom
Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics
I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which posts are read. It doesn’t use cookies or browser storage, and it doesn’t track you across sites. It records aggregated information such as:
- The page you visited and the page that referred you.
- Your browser, operating system and device type.
- Your approximate country.
- Page load performance.
I only see totals, never individual visitors. Cloudflare processes this data under its privacy policy.
Hosting: GitHub Pages
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web server, GitHub receives your IP address when your browser requests a page, and GitHub logs it for security purposes. I don’t have access to these logs. GitHub processes this data under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
Some posts show images or animations loaded from GitHub (for example, project demos). Loading them sends the same kind of request to GitHub.
Stored in your browser only
- Theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, the choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so it’s remembered on your next visit. It never leaves your device. You can clear it from your browser settings.
- Search. Site search runs entirely in your browser. Your search terms aren’t sent anywhere.
Share buttons and links
The share buttons for X, Bluesky and Threads are plain links. Nothing is sent to those services unless you click one. Once you’re on another site, its own privacy policy applies, and I’m not responsible for its practices.
Why the data is processed
For visitors in the EU, the UK and similar jurisdictions, the legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure website and understanding which content is useful. The analytics are designed so that this doesn’t require identifying you.
Where data is processed
Cloudflare and GitHub are US companies, and they may process data in the United States and other countries. Each one provides its own safeguards for international transfers, described in its privacy policy.
How long it’s kept
I don’t store personal data myself. Cloudflare and GitHub keep the data they process for the periods described in their own policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and California privacy law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Since I don’t collect data that identifies you, I usually won’t hold any data about you. If you have a request or a question, contact me and I’ll help, including by pointing you to the right provider.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: the site doesn’t track you across websites and doesn’t sell personal data, so there’s nothing for these signals to switch off.
Children
The site isn’t directed at children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
I may update this policy by posting a new version on this page with a new “last updated” date. If the site starts collecting data in a new way, this page will say so before it does.
